Just a quick note on fall shopping. If you haven’t seen the latest fashion catalogue from David Jones these are my favourite picks.

Miranda Kerr is sporting a Mimco bag ($349), boots ($599) and accessories. I also like the laser cut Willow dress ($599). The next photo is her wearing Sass & Bide’s Next In Line maxi dress. Not as exciting as Almost Moon from last year but it’s pretty nonetheless. You know that you can still buy Almost Moon dress on eBay occasionally I saw one going for $200 or so the other day.

I like this next lot more as a mood board rather than for individual pieces. I do however dig Witchery’s long boots and bracelets. I might also look good in Country Road’s black and white ensemble. You’ll find more interesting things in their online catalogue if you so desire to check it out.

First thing, it was a pretty slick party. I’ve never been to Bamboo before and I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer ‘coolness’ of the place. The main stage was large enough for any kind of concert. The sitting area was nicely designed and comfortable enough. For Summer coming up, I can see how popular this venue will be…

There were ladies wearing Estreya pieces very elegantly. The creator of Estreya, Arna, kindly directed me to these ladies so that I could see how Estreya pieces could be styled. Estreya gets another tick from me for being pretty clever about who wears what and how. Nice styling goes a long way. And should I mention that there was a little burlesque act from Sugar Blue Burlesque. My obsession with all things burlesque has been well documented.

Estreya sounds very much like Australia, doesn’t it? It doesn’t get another tick from me for that but what it does give us is an online store which looks to me very simple to use and elegant enough to get my attention. What I wonder is how people will be attracted to buy these accessories online. Specially, when there are so many accessories retailers flogging their stuff so cheap.. What is Estreya going to do differently to stand apart from these large retailers?

What I can see is variety and lots of it. Estreya doesn’t just do cheap costume pieces. Along with the ten dollar gear there are exquisite pieces with prices to match. Maybe, that will set them apart from other labels.

As usual, it was lovely taking photos of lovely people wearing lovely accessories. I also got goodie bags with some silvery summer earrings, a wooden bangle and a little scarf. All I need now is a Summer getaway plan to an exotic island. Any care to join us?

When I bought the beige patent sandals in question I was dubious about the usage. Well, by that I’m saying I was going against the golden rule of shopping ‘don’t buy unless you love it’. The downfall of that kind of shopping is that I never get out of my comfort zone hence no experimentation.

I see this with a black dress maybe. Beige is tricky, not really white, not really brown.BUT i see it with a dress.

Like CC, I like nude with nude. I also like it with brown and navy. I am a big patent fan. Love beige patent otherwise I feel like beige just looks blah on me.

one of my favorite color combinations is red with beige. i have some nude patent heels that i throw on with a red dress for a subtle, sexy statement.

i like clothes horse idea. i will take it a step further… so lots of almost non colours(pastels perhaps)…think ecru,grey,mint etc loose garments. so start with a loose maxi dress in one of those colours then pair over it a loose cardi in another non colour type garment ,could be a loose cardi and so on dear. so make it a loose unstructured look with lots of yummy pastels and mild colours,mix different pastels together for a calm look. Think Jill sander and her muted palette.whatever you wear i know you will look fab!

I actually wear a ridiculous amount of beigey colours (bags, shoes etc)
I think it looks really good with pale blues and greys.

Oh, and they’d look great with navy opaque tights in fall or with a pleated dancing skirt (knee length, chiffon-y)

Oh, I love nude shoes! T these are so simple & classic, gorgeous!
The beauty of ‘nude’ is that you can wear them with pretty much any colour (especially bold tones)! It’d look gorgeous with a patterned dress too! Something easy & flowy, or a shirt-dress (maybe even a bit of YSL’ish safari look with a patterned scarf at the waist for interest).

I vote for contrast. Let the beige shoe extend your leg, much as it does for Angelina in that post on Savvy Mode’s blog. Contrast with black, brown, navy, mulberry, grey, purple, green, the list goes on and on.

Ooo lovely shoes. I have a pair of beige heels (non-patent) that I would wear in the summer as “nude” so that my legs look a bit longer. For winter I think an all-beige look or a chocolate-brown dress!

Dessert

So it happens I will be dressing up in a burlesque outfit coming Saturday as I announced a few weeks ago. I’m looking at all the details: stockings, shoes, make-up and head pieces. Expect unexpected…
