Perth Fashion Festival 2010 Launch Party and some fashion news
Perth Fashion Festival 2010 was officially launched tonight with the launch of Russell James’ book V2. Personally, I don’t know who he is but his photos were fantastic and provided a great atmosphere to Fashion Bar. City of Perth kindly donated the Wellington street CPP car park (instead of using one on Pier Street). That made a huge difference. It looks likes a big warehouse space and I cannot believe it used to a car park. Only thing giving away were car park signs inside. No one would guess that it used to be a regular car park otherwise.
Finally got to meet Tane Andrews, one of the designers for Of Cabbages and Kings at Avant Garde the other night so I asked for a snap. Famous Marcia Ball posed for me with Tane kindly.
Daniella Caputi is all ready for her show and all relaxed although she may well go all bonkers on the day as she mentioned. 
Aleksandra, the project manager of the WA Designer Collection shows, reminded me thatUnwrappedthe market thing on Sunday. Yes, the Marketplace is happening again in front of WA Gallery.
I finally got to properly meet the people behind Dilettante. I may well get to really find out what’s happening in their mysteriously cool and edgy store.
Garth was nicely dressed up for the night and I got to meet the designer behind Joveeva.
Then I got to me the creative geniuses behind One Fell Swoop.
Of course, my heroes of Avant Garde, Romina and Connor were there chilling out after their big night this week. I also found out that Scott King who used to be part of the Zekka team is now working for Burberry that means he is no longer with us in Perth!
Bernice Lloyd, the designer of Bernice Sara, was there to urge me to attend the Swim Wear show which I don’t have a ticket for. Now she needs to hide me in amongst her bikinis. I caught her with her beau.
Kirsten from Paper Skye is as busy as bee now I hear. Great news I heard.. she now has people taking care of her production. She now has more time being creative.. more stockists are lined up to take her new work. It’s only last year when I first caught up with her in her studio in Applecorss talking about the future of the label.. hmmm the time sure flies. She is posing here with her Creative Director, David.
My crazy lady Zozatron, Zoe Trotman, is totally ready for her parade at WA Collection 2. She was able to stretch shoes for her models – lots of paper and put them on top of the stove while the oven is on. neat trick?
Leanne Lim and Paul from Stand International are cooking up something. They are collaborating to launch girls’ street wear. Woooohaaa. How about that?! I’m really hoping to have a sneak peek before anyone (well apart from the retailers that is) ho ho ho.
Now that’s about it I think. Let’s have a look at ‘Nude’ – the parade specially designed for the launch party. That was exquisite. Everything was exquisite um maybe except the food. Luckily, I ate my guy’s delicious soup before I got there. Feast your eyes on these. Unfortunately I didn’t set my camera correctly so I missed quite a few shots. Oh well.
I have a ticket for tomorrow’s Times Square parade. I’m not sure if I’ll get to take photos though as the PR company didn’t give me a media pass..obviously they did’t know that I take my own photos for my posts. After all, I’m no one special so there is no reason to expect anything special from the PR company. Damn it. I’m special – I would like to scream and bang my head on the wall. No not really.
