Perth Fashion Festival 2010 – Preparation
In less than 4 weeks, Perth Fashion Festival 2010 will kick off. There will be the usual exclusive invitation only launch party, after parties (which I never attend..), retail sponsors’ fashion parades, my favourite Fashion Paramount WA Designer Collection shows, Student Runway and WA Fashion Awards night show. What’s different this year? Last year’s West End Haute (featuring high end boutiques at the west end of Hay Street) has been ‘replaced’ with Wesley Quarter (brand new shopping centre on the corner of Murray/Hay and William Street) – doesn’t sound as exciting as last year’s West End Haute. There’s also a show/event inspired by/dedicated to Fashion Bloggers – Fifteen Minutes. How about that? When I saw that (not having been contacted or knowing about it prior to the program launch) I thought it would be for one of those events only for people ‘in the know’. You see, I’m more of an outsider looking in than being part of ‘in the know’ of the WA Fashion industry. So when I received an email with an invitation (hope it was) and a teaser email from a PFF organiser I was pleasantly surprised.
So there are some interesting stuff to look forward to and prepare for. I really should get on with filling out the Media Accreditation form for this year’s festival. After having attended so many parades and fashion related events this should be no big deal but I always feel inadequate applying for media passes every time. You know there’s always the official guy (yes in this case Stefan whom I respect the world over) and there will be other very well known media people who are there to score ‘the spot’. As a small time blogger with nothing but this humble space where I rant on WA fashion it is more than intimidating walking into photographers’ pits.
I personally don’t know of anyone who covers Perth Fashion Festival as much as I do but I feel that I’m ‘begging’ for a pass ‘declaring’ that I would provide a good coverage for the festival’ in the accreditation form. Unfortunate thing for me is that I won’t be able to camp out and position myself in the pit for a good spot this year. Last year, I took a week off from work to attend the festival but I don’t have that kind of luxury this time around.

I suppose I just have to get off my backside and send off the form. Once that’s done the anxiety of whether I’d be able to get into the pit creeps in until the moment when the music starts for a parade.
Will be interesting to find out why I’m so obsessed about fashion shows and fashion in general. Wanna find out more? I may or may not be able to unravel all this in a few weeks time because I want to find out myself, you see.
