STYLEAID 2010 Tribe – Zoe Trotman’s designs in New York Mag
All of the parade photos are getting uploaded online as I write this. Guess what I did while I was still in bed around 7:30am? Turned on my iPad and did a quick Google search to find out if there was any coverage on STYLEAID 2010 Tribe. Lo and behold, the very first thing I noticed was a ‘news’ entry via nymag.com – Six WTF moments from STYLEAID 2010. Without reading or seeing the actual ‘slideshow’ I knew that Zoe Trotman’s designs would take most of those six WTF. I knew that Zoe wouldn’t mind the description of ‘oddballiest moments’. So I sent an sms to the crazy lady herself.
I knew that Zoe was special when I first met her in her ‘creative space’. That was only last year. Her designs were spotted and featured in an international online magazine this morning!!
The photos of the slide show must be from Stefan Gosatti. He was standing just in front of me on the lower deck and I remember having glimpses of these photos. NY Mag must be receiving literarily thousands of photos each day. The fact that his photos, specially Zoe’s designs were (along with Arj Selvam’s white cowboy) picked out is just incredible. I’m super proud as if I’ve won something.
There is really nothing ‘WTF’ about Lonely 8-BIT Heroes if you know Zoe Trotman. These designs are her natural state of mind. Free and fun. There’s something to learn about the energy and the creativity in her. I give a big hug to my crazy creative girl. Well done. Now, when are you going to dress me?
Zozatron.
Of course, there’s a lot more to come from the StyleAid 2010 Tribe parade. Stay tuned.

July 31, 2010why thanks lil lady – nice photos btw – and you’re right….. i never thought NY MAG would “get it”…. but they totally did (without knowing it) …. as my label bio states
“Lonely 8 -Bit Heroes is a label making stuff for people who have a love of the lavish and the slightly ridiculous – the garments are a pastiche of the panache, a lampoon of all that is in good taste. Because what else would one expect from a label with a catchphrase like ‘KEEP AUSTRALIA CRINGING’? The 2010/11 Spring Summer collection is called Joy Fantastic…. it celebrates the magically excellent, the delightfully absurd and the magnetically grotesque – because sometimes it’s just good to let go and be full of the precocious wonderment of the child within”

I’ll leave the dressing part up to you. It’s your thing – you dress me, not me dressing myself.

August 10, 2010[...] – could continue bring out something cohesive and commercially viable. To my surprise, her collection at StyleAID 2010 was very interesting and I can see that there is a definite commercial appeal. [...]
