Swan TAFE Graduation Show
After yesterday’s post I think I have upset quite a few people. Remembering Style Discovery is a personal space where I often talk about frivolous things, I don’t always think about the consequences of my ranting, which is very irresponsible of me.
A few things to mention, I was being very selfish complaining bitterly about the setup and the lighting of the show while failing to acknowledge the fantastic work presented by all 25 students and their tutors. At no point during my shoot or during the hours of processing images did I think that their work was less than spectacular. My frustration came from thinking that the great work that you guys have done – as someone pointed out blood and sweat poured into all that effort – deserved to be shown in a better light. I appreciate all the graduates’ wonderful talent and love every one of the students although I haven’t had an opportunity to meet everyone of them. If I hurt the feelings of you guys, please understand my frustration was not directed at you and I apologise for those who were offended by my comment.
In my defence, I guess happy thoughts generate happy writing. I’ve been sleep deprived and exhausted for months literally. I got a message the other day from a well known fashion editor saying that I seem to appear in more events than she does. That’s crazy because it’s her job whereas this isn’t my ‘job’. My seven to five job has nothing to do with what I do in Style Discovery. My well-being is my responsibility, I know that. I’ll be taking a break from all this and start saying ‘no’ to some of the things coming my way.
That’s enough about me. Okay, it was a big stuff up on my part not acknowledging and congratulating the amazing effort and the sell-out show. I know this little post isn’t going to change anything but I hope you’ll get to at least enjoy what I put together for all twenty five amazing talent. Have a good weekend everyone.

December 6, 2009I don't think anything you said was out of line. A bad setup is a bad setup. Terrible lighting is terrible lighting. It's better for people to know and work on that than otherwise.
