challenger TAFE 2009 Architextile Vol2

I hope you're enjoying the extensive photo coverage of Challenger TAFE 2009 Graduate parade. I'm certainly enjoying having a closer look at details of the garments and look at why some students (three to be specific) were awarded and not others. More on that a little later.

Felicia Nadi says her inspiration came from Japanese culture. Lots of draping and folding work (which is shown well in the back of there garments - some photos here) went into these designs.

Annie Lim's designs seemed to have followed somewhat traditional shapes that flatter feminine curves.

Kristy Gray's 2d and 3d half spheres were fun to watch.

Isabel's garments were apparently very very well constructed hence receiving the best Student Work award and received an award for creating the most innovated range at the end of the night. Seemingly we all have different ideas as to what we like the best. If the construction quality wasn't the only aspect of the judging what would you have picked? I guess we'll see about that when I finish the Challenger TAFE series. Five more to come.

I have a big week next week. We have Sixteen Acts by Central TAFE and Home Ground by Curtin university. I'll be shooting for Xpress. Have a lovely weekend!

PS I got a hair cut last night..

Isabel won the most innovative range, it wasn't about construction.
