Skattwalk 2009 – Fluoro Punk & Fashion-eista
Skattwalk is a clever concept. One might argue that this is nothing more than just a fashion show and I say it’s not.
Well, it’s interesting because it’s driven by hair and make-up people. In order to make the whole show actually work (as in making it entertaining) it will have to be theatrical. Logically then the show needs to be divided into several themes. Each theme can have a different fashion designer. This makes it possible for local fashion designers (not one but many) to participate. More exposure means more sponsorship. Does it make sense?
Guess who I met before the show? None other than Elsa Lloyd herself looking at the rehearsal of the piece in which her dresses were featured. After exchanging a big hug and kisses, we talked about various things and one of them being her exposure to Project Runway. Unfortunately, her work wasn’t accepted (why not!?). It was a good exposure all around according to her. She is as gorgeous as I imagined. This is one of the reasons why I get out to shows such as this as much as I’d like to lounge around at home and just relax after a week of hard work.
In case you’re wondering about unwrapped South Perth, I was there and found some interesting designers. The full reports are coming your way but let’s get the Skattwalk out the way first.. oki?
One more thing.. Skattwalk’s website is in desperate need of revamping I think. The show was great but the site just doesn’t do the justice. Tragic. I’d really like to re-design for them.
Enough of my ranting, here I give you theme three and four: Fluoro Punk… the 80′s are back and A Fashion-eista Extravaganza.
