Fremantle Events April 2009

It’s not hot and it’s not cold. Perfect autumn weather is here and it is a good time to be out and about. I say that all the time but that’s how it is in Perth. There are a couple of cool things happening in Freo this month.

Fremantle being an arty town it will be no doubt lots of fun to be there this weekend. If eating Easter eggs to death and lounging around at home all day aren’t your thing Fremantle Street Arts Festival will be a good option.

For those who are more fashion conscious and feeling the burning desire of helping people get some tickets to see Jailhouse Frock – Fashion show at Fremantle Prison. Sounds interesting? Well, it’s for a good cause too. This fashion event is organised by Asthma Foundation so all proceeds go to helping this non profit organisation.

I’m excited to see this show. I’ve been to Fremantle Prison as a tourist. I’m dying to see how the prison is going to turn into a fashion show venue. Granted, this isn’t the first time for Freo Prison to be used for funky events such as this but I haven’t been to one yet.

The line up is more exciting actually – my favourite(Empire Rose), never seen(me & mr martini), intrigued (Morrison) and the resident Fremantle locals (Love in Tokyo, Ashe, Lin Pin, Mabu, Megan Salmon and Adam Wore Short Pants).

Let’s see if I succumb to the temptation of lounging around at home over this Easter break or not. I might try to be a good sport and get out this weekend at least to soak up some artistic air in Fremantle. Who would like to join me?
