WAIFT 2008 Introducing Little Gracie by Ebony Harding
Introducing Little Gracie by Ebony Harding
- Inspiration – Where did they get the initial couture and RTW concept from?
My couture and ready to wear ranges were both inspired from a garden. Even more specifically flowers. I love the way they formed and made many layers all falling very naturally, the rawness of them, my whole aesthetic when I design is to make a feminine and beautiful outfit, and to make someone just totally fall in love with it.
- What made you to study fashion? Why at Swan TAFE?
I always loved fashion, playing in my mum’s dress up boxes, and also watching and learning my mum, grandma and great grandma knitting. My personal thing that I include in most of my designs is hand knitted garments; I think the more love that goes into a piece, the more someone else will love it. I didn’t always study at Swan TAFE, I studied my first two years ay Fremantle challenger TAFE, and decided to make the big move to Swan to finish my diploma.
- What’s happening now since the show?
After the show…. well. I won the Libertine award. So that has given me the opportunity to get mentored by Libertine in all aspects of the fashion industry for the next year, and also being able to stock my label Little Gracie in their store. So hopefully I want to start my label up and get it up and running. It has been my dream since I was a little girl. And maybe after getting it up and running, in a few years, I want to travel the world and experience the fashion in other areas of the world, especially Amsterdam and Japan that would be amazing.
- What would you do differently if you have to start all over again?
I would not change anything I have done in the past three years. After leaving school at the start of year 12, and starting up in fashion I knew this is where I wanted to be. It has probably been the best three years , I would recommend the course to anyone!. Meeting new people and hanging out with the girls …and guys everyday that love the same thing that you do is so fun and enjoyable, you learn a lot.
- Your favorite designer(s)?
My favourite designers would have to be Zuhair Murad, Blumarine and Luella.
- Your favorite place(s) to shop in Perth?
My favourite places to shop …definitely Op shops. I love vintage clothing so I search around in odd places that people never go to and find some amazing finds. I rarely shop at chain stores. I like being different and wearing a piece that no one else has got. My stores are my little secret.
As I complained earlier I had a complete ‘dud shot day’ on the night of the WAIFT show. Her couture collection had some really delicate colours that other photos couldn’t quite capture. I must tell you I wasn’t even happy with the photos taken by professionals so here you have all my photos. Although these are not the best shots I can at least show you more or less accurate colours. She is not sharing her secret shopping spots. Will she reveal all if I give her massive virtual tickle?

December 22, 2008maybe that stretching of your legs in the morning did all the good for your legs.. maybe that’s why they are soooooooooo looooooooooooong.
– HAHA when I was little, my Mom used to tell me to stretch them for longer legs. I guess it worked.
