When deals sound too good to be true then they are, right?
Deal 1 (no deal): I've been looking for a full frame DSLR (i.e. Nikon D700 or D3). Last night, while I was browsing eBay half asleep I came across an unbelievable deal. One eBay seller claimed that she was selling D3 for less than $2,000 AUD as supposed to the usual price of $6,500 AUD. You'd think that's a scam right off the bet. Well, I didn't. You see..I can be very gullible. As I really wanted that particular model, I wanted to believe that it was true. I sent the seller an email asking various questions. Basically, she had five units of D3 and she is not that greedy blah blah. She even had a feedback rating of 99%. There was six hours left to go for the bidding to end and it was nearly midnight. I didn't believe I could make any kind of offer so I went to sleep. Looking back I think it was totally stupid but I thought that could be a real deal?! After having a lousy night sleep, I went to work sheepishly. It was a good thing that I talked to my buddy Hiep who told me that the kind of scams were rampant on eBay. Specially those don't take regular biddings and asking to transfer money via Western Union are to be avoided at all cost. That woke me up. Although I wanted to believe, it was too good to be true. I would never find out if it was a genuine deal or not but I can be sure that I won't be losing $2000 AUD for a camera that may not arrive.

my dream kit: Nikon D3 with 70-200mm VR F2.8{photos from www.kenrockwell.com} These are not cheap. Handsome 10K.. I could buy quite a few WendyB's jewellery for that price.
Deal 2 (real deal): empire rose is a West Australian(WA) label designed and made in Fremantle in WA*. I absolutely adore all of the designs from ER and some of you have already seen the winter 08 collection in C'est si belle some time ago. The only issue is that everything from ER is out of my price range. Imagine the joy I had when I received a mail announcing a outlet sale. Knowing how expensive garments can be I was rather dubious at first but I did score three fabulous shirts and a pair of trousers. Shirts usually go for $375 each but I got them for $75 each. The trousers were a sample design so there was no original price tag but knowing what it is I can guess that it would have easily been between $300 and $400. I paid $50. Real deal? Hell ya.

I'm in no shape to dress up and pose for you so these will have to do for today. The pin tuck shirt looks fab on me!
empire rose has some incredibly beautiful sheer dresses, ruffled tops, great basic items and unusual designs which I tried all but couldn't buy as I couldn't face going bankrupt over clothes.
*I could have said Perth but people in Freo will kill me for it. Freo is a port town which is about 20 minutes out of the Perth CBD.

its good that you didnt take the chance on that camera.
Glad you didn't get scammed on ebay.
The shirts on the other hand look awesome, I especially like the dark one.
I am afraid that everything on Ebay is a scam. Probably best that way or I would be spending a whole lot of money there.
that camera is so dreamy. worth an arm and a leg, but still dreamy!
i like the shirts.... BF is an avid photographer and he buys all sort of equipments. i believe if the deal is too good then i better watch out.
Oh, Songy, I am SO GLAD you didn't bid on that camera. Husband Mike got caught up in not one, but TWO eBay scams a few years back when Canon was first releasing digital SLRs. He nearly lost $5K ... awful.
Those shirts, on the other hand, are fantastic bargains and gorgeous scores! Hope you'll show them to us some other time paired with other bits of your fantastic wardrobe.
It seems so classic, I love a white shirt, timeless!
a kiss girl!
Phew -- glad you avoided the scam.
I'm very wary of ebay. So much so, I just stay away. But disaster was averted and you got gorgeous clothes to boot!
Ooh! I love Empire Rose, and still have some pieces from almost 10 years ago, haha! Great purchases! And *phew* lucky you didn't bid on the camera!
I am wanting a full frame DSLR as well. trying to save up the money for one... must stop buying shoes.

I want a DSLR so bad too. But good thing you went with you gut - sometimes it is too good to be true!
Songy, you made all the right decisions!
Hey Songy!
Don't worry, I've been in the same boat so many times...Now looking back I'm glad I didnt bid on all those items that seemed too good to be true...because they usually are.
What camera do you use right now to take pictures? I think it's great quality.
@LaMimi
Oh, thanks. Mine is Nikon D50 with 28-70mm F2.8. The lens is great.. about double the price as the body. :P
Yes, it's always like that...I can't wait to get a new camera! Mine is definitely worse than what you have now....:)...lol
Empire Rose looks like a fab shop!
And btw I'd love to own a piece with some tv provenance, like a tie from Boston Legal. I looooove that show & there's only one new episode left... Denny Crane!!
xoxox,

Those shirts are quite perfect.... I like the clean lines....
great details on the shoulders.
I think those shirts look perfect for you (with a colourful scarf... lol, *joking*), they seem tailored which will show your elegante figure, beauty.
Glad you didn't buy the camera, darling.
xoxo
Great shirts, the black would make an amazing, dramatic evening look, and I love the button detailing on the white shirt.
x
Oh, I hate when that happens. The D3 is indeed a delightful camera. The latest model shoots at 24.5 MP. Who needs that kind of pixel count?
Simple but loving the clean details.
