Dressing Songy No4 – Songy wears tulle
Finally, I’m wrapping up the long over due Dressing Songy No.4 finale, Songy’s outfits. What I gathered after the virtual window shopping are mostly ‘dream’ pieces which I will have to collect over many years in similar colours and designs. Let’s face it. Most of us don’t have funds to have that kind of wardrobe. If I did I wouldn’t be here probably. Well, that’s a topic for another blog or post(s). I believe all those pieces are timeless and they will remain stylish beyond trends hence the ‘collecting over many years’.
My obsession with tulle started with a picture of Olga Kurylenko who appears in Quantum of Solace, the latest bond movie. Might I add that I wasn’t at all impressed with her character in the movie. Anyway, later on, I saw a student work at Transformation, High Street Collective which was loved by many of my readers. In case you don’t bother to click the link or just need a refresher, it was a short dress with some sweet applique on tulle. C’est Si belle also recently saw another tulle beauty which Carla really liked. If a gorgeous photographer living in Paris says she saved that image. That is a good enough endorsement in my book.
There is no reason why I cannot have a tulle piece I thought. Hang on though.. have I ever needed such a piece. This is where I have to think because all this time I have been a very practical shopper. Another issue I have is that I spent all my dough on a new lens and a heavy duty flash for my Nikon D50. Well, this is when my Yardage Fashion comes in handy. I thought Olga’s dress is easy enough to do with some tulle yardage. I did a brown number a few weeks back as part of Dressing Songy No 3. It turned out that I looked pretty dashing in brown. Now we are looking at some tulle and a pair of beige patent sandals.
Does it work? Skin tone velvet and gold ribbon make the ‘dress wannabe’ quite special. I think a strong contrast works as well. Looking at these photos (somehow they don’t look like me but what the heck) I think having a tulle skirt, not a full dress’ could be indeed practical. All I need are occasions where I could possibly sport such outfits.
I also found other beauties somewhat related to my beige numbers. Collette Dinnigan’s dress which I spotted in Caronline’s Absolutely Unique gave me an idea to seek out more of her creations. I also really like Armani’s beige ensemble. Delicious.
What made me really exciting when I was reading your comments on the shoes was the fact that skin tone shoes extend my legs. For that reason alone I need to get more of different style skin tone shoes. I’m thrilled to have spent my $15 AUD on that ‘suspicious’ beige sandals. Oh yeah! I only spent that much because I can be such a cheap ass.

December 5, 2008I heart the tulle
I have a full tulle skirt that I recently dug out of my Dad’s shed and washed the dust off it. I am looking forward to being able to fit into it soon and these pictures show that tulle is actually very wearable! I hope I pull it off as well as you do.
