Dressing Songy No3 – Lace me up

These are the result of an impulse online purchase . Do you have that sometimes? I click ‘add to cart’ a second too soon before I regain my consciousness from mad online shop browsing in a zombie state. From looking at this picture, they are not that exciting. At least when I bought the black canvas shoes I had insurmountable curiosity as to how I’d wear them. I had more or less similar feeling when I showed you my chunky platform heels. As you may remember, I initially thought they could be seen as ‘fugly’. Almost all of those who commented said otherwise. So now I enjoy wearing both pairs with variety.

When one of my work colleagues saw them she said they would be good on a rainy day as they are not made in leather. Good point! A good reason to wear them boots…how tragic. I wouldn’t send them back although I sometimes look at them with contempt. It’s more hassle than its worth. I wonder if you could tell me how I could take advantage of these not so thrilling lace-up boots. You know how it works. If you don’t click to find out how ‘Dressing Songy’ began.

As you may already know I have a fairly modest closet. That doesn’t mean that I won’t try other exciting things. With your help I embraced mini skirt and shorts. What should I team up with these boots? Let’s hear it help me bring back some excitement in my life. :) .

I love playing this game – partly coz it’s what I get paid to do and partly coz it’s fuuun.

OK! so I think that floppy hat you’re wearing in your profile picture would be the perfect start and a belted caftan!

These are rather brilliant and Victorian lady. Black smock dress maybe? Or slight baggy, knee length black pants? Any length that just grazes the top of the boots would be good. I know it’s very un-summery but I’d want to wear them with velvet too.

    Cool, love those boots.
I think the lace-up must be shown, eitherwise it had no point.
So… you’ve great legs, you can wear minis…
I would say a mini dress or some shorts, with dark tights, a brown belt and like Matt I think your hat would give such a nice detail (I love hats).

i’d look through sea of shoes, she wears quite a lot of lace of shoes, they’re different of course, but its sort of the same concept.

the obvious choice is to tuck into slim dk blue jeans, but also something like this. ;)

I love to read before bed at night, but there’s just something about not getting out of the bed in the morning, to just stay in, all nice and warm, to read! :)

The boots seem very nice to me. I like the lace up detail. But impulse purchases make me feel so guilty!

Let’s see … I wear my lace-up boots with cropped cargos and a cashmere cowlneck sweater. Might be a bit too warm for you these days, but it’s a fun look! Mixes elegant and casual really nicely.

I really like those!!!! I have my eye on a similar pair. I think you have to wear them with something that shows the laces off like a skirt or crops.

OK, I can think of zillions of ways of wearing these. How about a tweed wool, a-line mid calf skirt and cashmere cardigan. All in brown or taupe tones. How about dark skinny jeans (tucked in) and a chiffon bow-tie translucent top (maybe butter yellow). These boots are a steal. If you don’t want them, send to me. :-)

I love those boots. I see skirts with them: knee-length or above, pencil, a-line, mini (but not too mini), and dresses! Nothing too long, though.

Those boots are gorgeous! I think they’ll go with so much – a shorter skirt with tights and skinny jeans or fitted pants jump to mind. And something with a pop of color, too. I can’t wait to see what outfits you create with them!
