Dressing Songy No.2 – Songy wears chunky heels

Posted by on Oct 18, 2008 in dressing songy

Finding fabulous looks in magazines and polyvore is one thing but putting things together for real to dress myself is something else entirely. I find that what I see in glossy publications and style sets I put together online are not realistic for a couple of reasons.

  • Body shape matters: honestly, I cannot wear high-waisted jeans although I love the set I created in my last post. My waist can handle Australian size 8 but my butt only allows size 10-12.
  • One cannot afford everything one sees: need I explain? For example, I do not have a big enough budget to purchase things from Net-a-Porter. I love that site by the way so if there is a fairy god mother watching over me I wouldn’t mind receiving a gift voucher with some large sum.
  • What you see isn’t what you get: Things could look great on paper and on screen but not so great on my body.

When I went shopping in my own closet I was pleasantly surprised to find things that I thought I never had and a little disappointed to find out that I didn’t actually have any decent gold jewellery apart from a vintage chain I got in ebay a few months ago. What I need is a Juana Skull Necklace by Wendy Brandes. (Dear Fairy God Mother if you’re reading this.. that’s what I really need at the moment on top of the voucher I just mentioned). Here I give you 4 looks I was able to achieve out of my modest wardrobe. Clicking each picture will take you to super size me.

chunky heels with black skinny jeans

The vest used to be a jumper. Another improvisation. You knew that coming, didn’t you?

I wanated to show you the shape of the vest a little. It has a pointy back.

Cuffed jeans with chunky heels

Not sure about this one. The way I’m standing or the pattern of the top? I love my bangles though.

shorts with chunky heels

I do not have demin shorts and I don’t think I will ever get one. This is what I’d wear when I’m on a holiday.

Pencil skirt and chunky heels 2

This is what I could wear on a regular day. Quite comfortable.

Pencil skirt and chunky heels

I wanted to show you the pleats at the back of the skirt. They are quite sexy I find.

I’m please to report that the shoes are quite comfortable and I think the pencil skirt look is what I would go for my daily wear. I already have my next pair of shoes lined up for Dressing Songy No. 3. How’s that for preparation, folks? Only thing I’d complain about myself is that I haven’t caught up with my daily reading so I haven’t seen you all for a few days in your respective blogs. My appologies. I will soon get to y’all. Promise. :)

You’re so right, Songy. Putting together an outfit is one thing, but pulling it off in real life is quite another.
You hit the nail on the head on that one.
I love, love, love the first outfit, I just love the crisp white shirt and the necklace. And the last one I love as well, the skirt is just awesome!

Those shoes are incredible! My favorite look is also the last one with the skirt – I love that the back is unexpected. But another favorite is the white shirt and vest look. Fabulous!

Love the sandals. But then I'm a pushover for any shoes with wood soles. Just wanted to mention my own "clog blog" to you should you be interested: Every Clog Has Its Day. It's a daily celebration of clogs and wooden sandals. Please take a peek at http://www.everycloghasitsday.typepad.com.

Thanks for sharing your adventure with this pair with us.
