I was flipping through InStyle from October 2004 and realised that it was that time when I was venturing into an unknown and feeling apprehensive yet excited about what was lying ahead.
Blazing sun in Abu Dhabi
This time 4 years ago I was sweating my butt off in Abu Dhabi – it’s usually over 40C there – thinking I should get away from the Middle East. I made a decision to leave my guy behind and go to Korea which led me to move to Paris to work and live pretty much alone for a year.

4 years ago Prada had this beautiful pink dress.
4 years ago many celebs wore gold for red carpet events.
4 years ago prints were hip.
4 years ago jumpsuits were in.
4 years ago Matthew Williamson was adored by many. His current collection isn’t much different from what you see here.
4 years ago I was still experimenting with clothes. Paris was a great place to learn and harness my style. Sneakers and tracksuits were only for local FitnessFirst. I dressed ‘well’ just to go to a supermarket.
I shouldn’t throw away old magazines. I like remembering old things from mags just the way I did today.

So many of those trends look remarkably FAMILIAR! I love you in Paris, lady - what a great little autumnal outfit. Let's see, four years ago I was working on the website of a New Age book publisher, bored out of my mind, still with my old band, married 2 years. ;)
